Brian Hester July 19, 2019 Important Update to Story

Brian Hester July 17, 2019 Original Post

New York City officials have canceled OZY Fest as a result of the heat emergency this weekend. While we are disappointed at this outcome, the safety of our guests is our number one priority. Ticket holders will receive an email tomorrow regarding the process to claim a refund.

Please read the joint statement from OZY and the City of New York for more information.

I have heard of some folks that are upset with this decision. Would have been a "Legend-ary"weekend in NYC. But folks think of this almost like sitting on an airplane waiting to take off and the captain comes on and announces that we will all have to de-plane the aircraft as we have been grounded by storms. I have actually heard people complain out loud as this happened, some of these rocket scientist demand that the flight take off as planned... Are we seeing the correlations???

Also think off this.. Everyone on the production wanted this to happen, The artist, the producers, the fans... but.. one thing I learned managing Public Safety in Times Square the past four years...... SAFETY FIRST!!!! SAFETY ALWAYS!!!

I for one applaud the decision!!! Wishing all a safe and sound weekend.

Ozy Fest Will Heat Up NYC This Weekend

Get ready New York City, this weekend on the Great Lawn in Central Park the fourth annual Ozy Fest is guaranteed to heat up the big city. This is one of the most innovative and interactive experiences availabe today featuring an eclectic combination of music, comedy, and ideas, OZY Fest brings together today’s hottest musical artists, laugh-out-loud comedians, and some of the world’s most esteemed leaders and innovators across politics, business, technology, the arts and more, engaging in conversation, performance and demonstration like never before. It’s a new kind of festival that defies categorization; The New York Times called OZY Fest “part music festival, part TED talk, part food fair” and Thrillist proclaimed it “the only NYC summer festival you need to attend.”

Take a look at the incredible line up......

Some last minute line up addiitons not listed above include Beto O'Rouke and Team USA Captain Megan Rapinoe. Surprisingly, possibly due to last minute set up changes? I hear that some limited number of tickets remain for this epic, NOT to be missed Fest. Lots of learning, laughing, loving and dancing in Central Park all while listening to some of the hippest musical performances of the summer. In the event that you are concerned about the high temps expected in NYC this weekend you need not worry as according the event organizers

There will be unlimited free water, misting fans, shaded areas, heat relief tents, sunscreen dispensers, ice stations and individual fans all weekend-long at OZY Fest.

Extra Kudos to event organizers for enabling access some folks that might not otherwise be able to attend - as indicated by this section of the event website.

We're proud to be able to make available a limited number of complimentary tickets to those who may not otherwise be able to attend due to financial hardship. We also want to encourage attendance from those who are serving our communities including educators, veterans and non-profit employees. Click here to tell us why you'd like to attend OZY Fest and we will make a limited number of tickets available on a first come first serve basis. Applications close on Tuesday, July 16.
